My mother’s favorite side dish. This recipe was handed down to her from her mother, Mary. It's so delicious and full of flavor.

Recipe on back of package:

YOU WILL NEED:

  • 1 package of Portuguese Baked Beans Seasoning Mix
  • One 16oz (1 lb.) package of navy beans 
  • 1 link (1/2 lb.) Portuguese sausage (chouriço or linguiça) casing removed cut into slices. 
  • Water

Directions:

  1. Add dry beans to a large bowl. 
  2. Fill with water to about 3 inches above beans. Soak beans overnight.  
  3. Next day rinse and drain beans.  
  4. Add beans to your slow cooker, then add 6 cups of water.
  5. Stir in seasoning mix and sausage.
  6. Cover slow cooker and cook 6 hours on high, stirring occasionally.
