Make your own homemade sauce. Piri-Piri is a traditional Portuguese Hot Sauce made from spicy African Bird's Eye chili peppers. Its flavor is different from that of all the other known chilies.
The pepper was brought to Spain and Portugal in the wake of Christopher Columbus’ voyages. It found its way down into Brazil via Portuguese traders. After that, another group of Portuguese traders took it with them to East Africa and to Asia, where the peppers became very popular.
While roasted chicken is one of the most widely recognized uses for piri piri sauce, it’s possibly even tastier when you marinade shrimp in it and then barbecue it. Roasted cashews with piri piri sauce are a popular snack in Southern Africa. Use is as buffalo sauce on chicken wings or as a dipping sauce. It's a great condiment, piri piri sauce can liven up to just about anything you put it on.
